You Matter! Celebration in the Park
























June 2025
For our summer event, You Matter! we gathered for a day of yoga, activities, and BBQ at Miwok Park in Novato. Our day was focused on creating community and sharing practices of team building and self reflection. We had our esteemed Yoga Teacher Volunteer, Shannon, lead us through invigorating yoga poses. We also had our Program & Engagement Specialist, Mira, guide us through some dynamic team building games. There was friendly competition in the air!

May 2025
In May, we gathered for a day of exploration at the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco. From the living roof and rainforest dome to the exquisite aquarium, we experienced the dynamic intersections of art and science. This trip offered a unique opportunity to connect with each other over curiosity and deepening our appreciation of the natural world.
Connective Climbing at Session Gym
March 2025
In partnership with Session Climbing gym, we gathered for a day of team building. Mentors and participants came together to challenge themselves and each other in an exciting and supportive environment. From strategizing routes to offering encouragement from below, every one had an important role. The day included: climbing etiquette, ice breaker activities, untie the knot, blindfolded climbing, relays and more! Thank you to our wonderful volunteers for making our day memorable!
Beyond the Bars Conference in New York




















March 2025
Our Executive Director, Dr. Susan Rahman, along with our Peer Mentors: Karina, Adam, Dave and Sara, all attended the Beyond the Bars Conference in New York. Beyond the Bars is an annual student-driven conference at Columbia University that focuses on the issue of mass incarceration. The event gathers a diverse group of individuals, including students, faculty, activists, advocates, professionals, people directly affected by incarceration, and community members. Its purpose is to foster collaboration, inspire action, and advance efforts to promote justice, equity, and the dismantling of mass incarceration. For more information on the conference click here.

Pumpkin Carving at TLC Family Services

October 2024
We hosted a harm reduction event at the TLC Child and Family Services Santa Rosa office, with a focus on community and connection. Road to Empowerment peer mentors led Halloween-themed activities, such as pumpkin carving and a mystery touch box, and shared a meal with the TLC youth. The event fostered engaging conversations and meaningful connections between staff, clients, and peer mentors.
